Jeff HughesJeff Hughes teaches acting, Trainer-Fit classes and maintains a private fitness training program here at HVAPA.He has been a professional actor since 1987 when he began his career working for Marvel Comics. Jeff's credits include a variety of roles on television including over 40 commercials. He has appeared on the Soap Operas: "All My Children", "As The World Turns" and on "Days Of Our Lives" where he had a recurring role for 8 years. Jeff has earned roles in feature films as well, and considers himself extremely fortunate to have worked with and observed some of the world’s leading directors such as Sir Richard Attenborough and Spike Lee. In South Florida and Los Angeles, Jeff studied with many different acting instructors learning various styles and techniques while honing his skills on the stage. After moving to New York he studied with Terry Schreiber at the Terry Schreiber Studios. While living in Los Angeles, Mr. Hughes taught beginning acting and magic with the "Kids in Motion" after school program in Malibu and throughout the San Fernando Valley. In South Florida he coached actors privately as well as wrote, produced, and directed the play "Another Round". Jeff looks forward to HVAPA’s drama department fulfilling the needs of the many actors in our area who are open and willing to better themselves and their craft. Jeff Hughes holds a BS in Physical Education and has maintained a private training practice for the past 19 years. He began working as a fitness trainer at Turnberry Spa in Miami; renowned for its celebrity clientele, and then had his own training business in Los Angeles and New York City, working with entertainment and corporate professionals, teaching them to understand fitness as a lifestyle instead of a “quick fix workout.” His private training and Trainer-Fit class incorporate work with stability balls, weights, and yoga techniques to help train the mind and body in a functional and balanced manner. Jeff believes that the path to true fitness is through an internal approach incorporating specific and realistic goals instead of just “wanting” to get in shape. To achieve these goals, he helps to re-train people’s perceptions of exercise, nutrition and self-image. Balance is the key; Balance in the mind, balance in the muscles of the body, balance in the food we eat, and balance in the way we accept and approach our daily tasks. |
